Jollibee Group Clinches Two Gold in Inquirer’s ESG Edge Awards for Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Supply Chain
The Jollibee Group received dual honors at the inaugural Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards 2025, underscoring its consistent commitment to advancing sustainability across its operations and value chain.
The Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards, organized by the Philippine Daily Inquirer in partnership with the Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium, recognize exemplary organizations that champion sustainability in the Philippines.
The Jollibee Group was recognized with a Gold award in the Environment – Energy Efficiency category for its Joy for Tomorrow Renewable Energy initiative, and in the Sustainable Supply Chain Management category for the Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP) implemented by the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF).
Sustaining Joy for Tomorrow
Both initiatives form part of the Jollibee Group’s global sustainability framework, Joy for Tomorrow, which is anchored on three pillars—Food, People, and Planet. The agenda reflects the company’s purpose of serving food people trust, treating the planet responsibly, and helping make people’s lives better.

Driving Energy Efficiency Through Renewable Energy
Under its Joy for Tomorrow sustainability agenda, the Jollibee Group achieved a major milestone by installing more than 16,800 rooftop solar panels across four manufacturing and logistics facilities. Completed in phases from November 2023 to May 2024, these installations collectively delivered 9.1 megawatts of renewable energy capacity.
The initiative offsets up to 25% of monthly grid electricity consumption at specific sites and is projected to avoid 75,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over 25 years—equivalent to planting nearly 300,000 trees.
In 2024 alone, the program reduced electricity expenses by ₱37 million, demonstrating both environmental and financial benefits. It also reduced 6,330 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions in its first year.
“This recognition is a major milestone for our continuing journey and strong commitment to embed renewable energy and energy efficiency into our operations,” said Michael Ong, Jollibee Group Manufacturing and Logistics President. “By decarbonizing our supply chain, we’re not only able to enhance operational excellence but also inspire and contribute to caring for the environment and the communities we serve.”
Building Inclusive Growth Through the Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP)
The Jollibee Group Foundation was honored for transforming smallholder farmers into agro-entrepreneurs and reliable institutional suppliers. Since its launch in 2008, the program has engaged more than 1,600 farmers across 15 provinces, enabling them to supply 13 million kilos of crops worth over ₱700 million directly to the Jollibee Group.
By 2024, FEP farmers supplied 37% of Jollibee Group’s onion requirements, while also delivering other crops including bell peppers, tomatoes, and ginger. The program’s inclusive model is built on organizing farmers into clusters, providing training in agro-enterprise and financial literacy, and partnering with government, NGOs, academic institutions, and financing groups.
A landmark three-year agreement with the Department of Agriculture (DA), signed in 2023, has further scaled the program nationally. As of April 2025, 322 DA personnel have been trained in agro-enterprise development, using the model to establish inclusive agricultural value chains across the Philippines.

Jollibee Group’s Sustainable Supply Chain entry will advance to the Asia ESG Positive Impact Regional Awards 2025 in Malaysia this November, along with other Gold winners in the distinct categories of the Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards.
