Philippines. October 12, 2026. — The Jollibee Group partnered anew with the First Gen Group (First Gen) to aggregate the electricity demand of 189 company-owned stores and shift to renewable energy supply, marking a new milestone in its efforts to adopt practical sustainability solutions across its operations.
The company-owned stores include outlets of Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking, Red Ribbon, Burger King, and Panda Express, which account for about 40% of the group’s total stores in the Philippines. Aggregation and transition are currently underway and set for completion by September 26, 2026.
First Gen will source the power for the aggregated demand of these individual food outlets from the BacMan geothermal power facilities in Bicol.
Electricity consumption of individual stores within the Jollibee Group is aggregated through the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), a mechanism that enables qualified consumers to pool their power usage and negotiate directly with energy suppliers.
“Transitioning nearly 200 stores to renewable electricity requires close coordination across our organization. By consolidating eligible stores and improving electricity sourcing, we are demonstrating a practical approach that supports operational efficiency while advancing more sustainable business practices. We plan to build on the experience and learnings from this initial phase and expand RAP to more eligible stores nationwide, reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility and long-term sustainability,” said Bong Filart, Head of Network Development, Jollibee Group Philippines.
Based on initial estimates, the retail aggregation initiative is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions from the electricity use of selected company-owned stores by over 75%, while also delivering significant electricity cost savings.
“We are so proud of our continued partnership with the Jollibee Group as they make progress in their sustainability journey. These initiatives will not only help them manage volatile costs, but also ensure that their retail and manufacturing operations generate a lower carbon footprint,” said Carlo Vega, First Gen Chief Customer Engagement Officer.
Building a practical path under Joy for Tomorrow
Through this initiative and its partnership with First Gen, the Jollibee Group has integrated its sustainability agenda, Joy for Tomorrow, into day-to-day store operations by increasing the use of renewable energy.
Key Jollibee Group commissaries and logistics hubs in Metro Manila, Laguna, Southern Luzon and Danao, Cebu are powered by 99% renewable energy, combining geothermal power with on-site solar power generation facilities. This builds on the Group’s broader renewable energy efforts and its sustainability track record — including operating the Philippines’ first LEED-certified quick-service restaurant and the country’s first LEED Gold-certified manufacturing facility.
“Joy for Tomorrow reminds us that building a better future for our planet matters just as much as building a stronger business — the two are inseparable. What encourages me most is seeing this commitment take hold across different parts of our organization, because that’s the clearest sign it’s truly shared and understood,” said Pepot Miñana, Jollibee Group Chief Sustainability and Public Affairs Officer.
Together, these milestones reflect a renewable energy journey that stretches to 2014 with solar panel installations in select restaurants, which has since expanded across Jollibee, Chowking, Mang Inasal, and franchise-operated locations.
With the initial phase providing a practical model and valuable learnings, the Jollibee Group plans to expand the RAP to more eligible company-owned stores across North and South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, supporting broader implementation across company-owned network over time.
